Thank you for your interest in our Phlebotomist position. This position is a backup role covering vacations and staff time off requests. Scheduled about 1 to 2 to 3 shifts a week - this is not part time status, nor full time status.
This position requires a lot of flexibility, to work any shift, any day of the week.
The candidate with the most flexibility will be a leading candidate, and phlebotomists with experience will also be preferred.
We are open to new grads, especially if a schedule is open and flexible.
Weekend availability is required both Sat and Sun, and some holidays.
Shift Differential is paid for evening, nights, and weekends.
We are looking for someone to be comfortable with PRN (backup for vacations) status for a while. Once hired, PRN status employees are considered for part time and full time positions, that open in the future.
The phlebotomy department works as a team in fast paced, detail oriented and patient driven hospital environment.
Morning run starts at 4am and usually lasts until 7:30am. Morning run requires the team to complete a large number of draws, 130 on average, during this time frame.
The day shift is from 4am until 1230.
The evening shift is from 1230 until 2100
The night shift is from 2030 until 7am.

Works under close supervision to obtain blood samples used in diagnostic testing.
Verifies patientâ??s identification and obtains specimens of patient blood for diagnostic testing by means of venipuncture or skin puncture methodology utilizing a syringe, lancet or other approved technique.
Calms and reassures patients who are anxious or apprehensive about having blood specimen withdrawn; explains to patient why specimen is needed in order to elicit cooperation.
Prepares blood samples obtained for diagnostic testing in laboratory by adding type and quantity of preservative or anti-coagulant specified for test procedures requested.
Fixes blood specimen on glass slide by utilizing edge of another glass slide to smear a drop of blood across its surface for the purpose of microscopic examination by other personnel.
Carries or otherwise forwards all blood specimens drawn to appropriate laboratory for analysis.
Receives, accessions, and processes patient specimens (including centrifuging, making primary inoculations of media, preparing and staining of smears and/or plates, and operating semi and fully automated equipment).
Records and transcribes laboratory test results from lab reports and worksheets into a permanent log. Routes laboratory reports to patientâ??s ward, as needed.
Performs other duties as assigned.
