Providence is calling a Financial Analyst - Grants (Medical Research Administration, Day Shift, 1.0 FTE) to Providence Sacred Heart Medical Center and Children's Hospital in Spokane, Washington. In this position you will:
Review grant proposals and assist with the development of grant budgets and written justification to support budget proposals for grant submission.
Assist with budget development and financial analysis to capture all allowable direct and indirect costs.
Perform a comprehensive review of grant proposals to ensure compliance with policy and funding agency guidelines and regulations.
Provide technical and administrative support in the development of accurate proposal submissions consistent with federal laws and regulations.
Develop and administer accounting systems for research study financial activities.
Facilitate the necessary requirements for grant funds release.
Ensure an understanding of and compliance with policies and procedures of the Institution, which may require updating policies and procedures.
Work closely with Institution/System Finance, Grants Compliance and Legal as needed.
Plan, organize, direct, monitor and coordinate the financial resources of the grant; including financial planning, budgeting, accounting.
Establish and maintain account management procedures including excel or designated software applications for forecasting expenditures for grants and contracts.
Audit and approve expenditures, variances, extensions, re-budgeting, payroll and personnel, for accuracy and compliance.
Work Directly with Independent Auditors in Support of the A-133 Audit.
Required qualifications for this position include:
Bachelor's Degree in accounting, finance, business administration or equivalent
5 years of more experience with Federal and commercial (industry) grant accounting
Knowledge of the accounting and reporting for Federal and commercial grants, including all pertinent governmental regulations
Ability to write reports, business correspondence and policy manuals
Ability to read and interpret Federal and commercial grant contracts to ensure proper and accurate accounting treatment
Demonstrated knowledge and proficiency in U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), as well as Federal grant regulationsDemonstrated skill in software applications, specifically spreadsheet, word processing and database applications
Effective communication skills (verbal and written)
Travel, as necessary
Other continuing education, as required
Preferred qualifications for this position include:
Certified Public Accountant (CPA)Experience in health research
Familiarity with large accounting systems, Lawson and activities experience
