The Pediatrics Surgery Nurse Practitioner provides independent advanced clinical expertise to pediatric trauma and pediatric general surgery service patients and their families on an on-going basis. Manages post-surgical treatment of patients with congenital anomalies, cancer, and intestinal surgeries in newborns/pediatric patients. This includes patients in the OR, PACU, acute care floor, emergency department, PICU, and NICU. The role of the pediatric surgery NP is to facilitate multi-disciplinary care through interaction with patients, housestaff, attendings and nurses. Patient care provided includes but not limited to, initiating appropriate consultations and referrals, postoperative patient evaluation and care, follow-up evaluations; and patient care planning, care education, and coordination of careREQUIRED- Possession of valid California RN and Nurse Practitioner license.- Furnishing license and DEA within 6 months of hire.- Master's degree from an accredited School of Nursing.- Graduation from a Pediatric NP Program.- National NP Certification within 3 months of hire- Current PALS. PREFERRED - Experience as a nurse practitioner in a pediatric service. SPECIAL REQUIREMENT- Ability to apply relevant theories and concepts to clinical practice.- Ability to work flexible hours.- Able to lift 25 pounds, see well enough to read gauges and identify injuries- THIS POSITION MAY BE SUBJECT TO A CRIMINAL BACKGROUND INVESTIGATION, DRUG SCREEN, LIVE SCAN FINGERPRINTING, MEDICAL EVALUATION CLEARANCE, AND FUNCTIONAL CAPACITY ASSESSMENT
