Responsible for processing requests for release of protected health information as defined by State and Federal laws. Responsible for maintaining up-to-date knowledge of all State/Federal laws and Medical Center Policies and procedures pertaining to the release of protected health information. All work is carried out in accordance with Medical Center/System and Department Policies and Procedures. Fosters respect for patient privacy by maintaining confidentiality in all phases of release of all protected health information. Promotes positive customer relations through prompt and courteous service.
Education & Experience
High School diploma required. Minimum of one year experience in a hospital Health Information Management department or large outpatient clinic operation with release of information experience highly desired. Previous Release of Information experience highly desired. Keyboard/Typing skill of at least 30 words/minute with minimal errors. Ability to maintain fee collection without errors. Excellent interpersonal, communication, organization, trouble-shooting and problem solving skills. Ability to maintain confidentiality. Goal oriented. Microsoft Word and Excel experience preferred. Accredited Record Technician (RHIT) preferred.
