The University of Chicago's Department of Pediatrics, Section of Neonatology, seeks a full-time faculty member who will provide coverage at the University of Chicago Comer Children's Hospital NICU and contracted off-site locations. Clinical experience suitable for administering/directing a level IV neonatal intensive care nursery in a large tertiary center is preferred. The appointee will engage in scholarly activity and teaching of medical students, residents and fellows. Opportunities for leadership positions may be available to candidates with appropriate skills or experience. The Section of Neonatology is committed to medical education, research, patient care and community service. It has 13 full-time faculty and other academic staff who attend at the 71 bed unit in Comer Children's Hospital and 3 community hospitals to provide compassionate evidence-based treatments in nurturing family-centered environments with state-of-the-art equipment. In collaboration with the Maternal-Fetal Service, the section runs the University of Chicago Perinatal Network with over 10 affiliated community hospitals. The section has a fully accredited fellowship program with 10 trainees and a robust neonatal nurse practitioner program. Its faculty members are actively involved in research supported by federal and other extramural funds. Prior to the start of employment, applicants must: 1) have a MD, MD/PhD, or equivalent, 2) have completed an ACGME approved neonatal-perinatal medicine fellowship, 3) be BE/BC in neonatal-perinatal medicine, 4) have or be eligible for medical licensure in the states of Illinois and Indiana, 5) have cared for newborns requiring intensive care within the past five years, and 6) have a CV consistent with appointment to the rank of Associate or Full Professor.
