BASIC PURPOSE OF THE JOB Works in coordination with the nursing leadership in an assigned unit or department to ensure the work is accomplished and the unit functions effectively. Serves as the first line of support for staff, physicians and other related providers on clinical issues specific to the department. Collaborates with the manager on clinical and non-clinical issues (employee relations, individual behaviors, physician relationships, etc.) and must possess strong clinical knowledge and interpersonal skills. Supports the unit/department/service when the manager is unavailable. Responsible for supervising, directing, coaching and mentoring their assigned core group of staff. JOB REQUIREMENTS Minimum Education Associates required Bachelors preferred Degree in Nursing Minimum Work Experience 2-3 years relevant clinical experience Prior leadership experience preferred Required Licenses/Certifications for position YES RN Licensure in State of Tennessee Must obtain certification in specialty area within 1 year of hire Required Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities Strong pediatric nursing skills Comfortable with Microsoft Word and Excel, as well as Meditech documentation Strong communication and organizational skills PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS Note: Reasonable accommodations may be made for individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of this position. Heavy lifting, pushing and pulling is required up to 50 lbs occasionally, 20-30 lbs frequently and 10 lbs constantly to move objects of up to 150 lbs.
