The Development Director is responsible for planning, organizing, and directing all of Mount Saint Vincent Home's fundraising including a major gifts program, annual fund, planned gifting, special events, grant writing, research, database and capital campaigns. The Director reports to the Executive Director of Mount Saint Vincent Home and the Chief Development Officer at SCL Health.
This position has a matrix reporting structure, with a direct line to the Executive Director of MSV and with accountability to the SCL Health Chief Development Officer
This position is a member of the MSV senior leadership team
This position supervises other members of the MSV development team and supports them in putting on MSV events
Serves as the lead fundraiser for major gifts
Builds and supports key business and operational relationships that drive the strategic plan of MSV, including liaison work with community and business partners
Prepares and manages the revenue and budget along with the Director of Finance
Supports needs for project-specific communication for employees, clinical staff and community at large
Creates and leads a communications and marketing plan, a capital fundraising and community engagement plan, and manages the resulting engagement with the organization and its constituencies
Shares the vision, mission, values and philosophy of Mount Saint Vincent and performs all responsibilities in a manner that is reflective of that
Is sensitive to the cultural differences among the children, families and staff and responds appropriately and sensitively to those differences
Leads development team in donor acquisitions
Participates in speaking engagements through Mount Saint Vincent Speakers Bureau Program
Attends and participates in agency meetings and committees
Sets clear objectives and measures; monitors process, progress and results and regularly provides feedback to Development staff
Participates in Administrator On Call Rotation
Appear to speak in engagements to share information about Mount Saint Vincent in the community
Bachelor's degree in business, communications or related area
At least five years' experience in nonprofit development, fund raising and management preferred. Prior experience with fundraising, the creation of capital campaigns, development work, events, and a working knowledge of applicable laws related to fundraising, regulations, and donor's wishes.
Strong skills in Microsoft Office and Raisers edge is preferred.
Good public relations and writing skills, professional experience and knowledge of fund raising and development, knowledge of the human service field.
Effective in written and verbal communication; organized; able to build bridges with a variety of people from various disciplines.
Team player with strong team leadership skills.
