The Community Education Specialist position acts as the Coordinator for Asian-American Outreach for the Center for Excellence in Developmental Disabilities (CEDD), a specialized statewide system that has been established to provide training, technical assistance, service, research and information dissemination to people with disabilities, family members, state and local government agencies and community resource programs. The Community Education Specialist will have personal experience with disabilities; professional experience in a related field such as Child Development, Psychology, Special Education, or Instructional Design; and proficiency in at least one Asian language, preferably Mandarin, Cantonese, Korean, or Vietnamese.REQUIRED:--BA Degree in Child Development, Psychology, Special Education, Instructional Design or related field or equivalent experience.--Experienced professional with in-depth knowledge of evidence-based practices in prevention, assessment, treatment, and support services for people with developmental disabilities (DD).--Extensive years of experience in working with people with Developmental Disabilities (DD) in the Asian-American community.--Personal experience with disabilities (self or immediate family member).--Experience with but not limited to Word, Excel, PowerPoint, email system, internet and etc.--Experience writing reports, summaries, and/or fact finding documentation.--Strong interpersonal (oral and listening) skills.PREFERRED:--Proficiency in one or more Asian languages, such as Mandarin, Cantonese, Korean, or Vietnamese.SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS--Current California Driver's License.--Occasional travel within/outside Sacramento; overnight travel too.--THIS POSITION MAY BE SUBJECT TO A CRIMINAL BACKGROUND INVESTIGATION, DRUG SCREEN, LIVE SCAN FINGERPRINTING, MEDICAL EVALUATION CLEARANCE, AND FUNCTIONAL CAPACITY ASSESSMENT
