The Director of Surgical Services position will be responsible for the day to day operations of the Surgery Department at Lee Memorial Hospital. This position will have a dual report to the Vice President of Nursing and the Acute Care Medical Officer for Lee Memorial Hospital.
Lee Memorial Hospital is a Level II Trauma Center that is the acute care flagship of the Lee Health system. It has 335 licensed beds, 60 rehabilitation beds and performs an average of 12,000 surgical cases each year. This position has responsibility for an average of 140 FTE's.
This position will be responsible for the following surgical areas: Surgical Trauma ENT Surgery Orthopedic Surgery Gynecological Surgery Bariatric Program Bronchoscopy Surgical Oncology Perioperative Services PACU Endoscopy
The Surgical Services Director actively participates in organizational leadership functions and collaborations with leaders throughout the Lee Health system in designing and providing patient care and services. The Director will work in partnership with Surgical and Anesthesia Physician leadership to provide critical input to strategic direction of overall operations and quality outcomes. The Director will provide direction to surgical services staff to promote quality patient care and nursing services on a continuous basis. The Director is responsible for ensuring consistent nursing standards within the provision of nursing care. He/She serves on the Nursing Leadership Council to provide clinical perspectives to issues, as well as serve as a patient advocate. Responsible for directing and coordinating patient care within the Surgical Services Department, through established standards subscribed by the American Nurses Association and in accordance with the Florida Nurse Practice Act.

This position requires a minimum of a BSN in nursing as well as a Master's degree in a related field of leadership, preferably a MSN. Must have Nursing Leadership experience. Currently licensed as a Registered Nurse in the State of Florida or willing to become licensed in Florida before beginning the position.
