The Director, Ambulatory Pharmacy Services has strategic and operational responsibility for all retail, specialty, and ambulatory clinical operations and has a team of managers and staff totaling nearly 60 FTEs and over $35 million in expense.
The Director, Ambulatory Pharmacy Services directs all aspects of the pharmacy’s ambulatory operations. The individual in this position leads a team of managers to ensure that optimal pharmacy services are created and maintained and that all patients’ needs for pharmaceutical services, both clinical and distributive, are met. Activities include strategic planning, business development, clinical pharmacy services development, personnel management, policy and procedure development, performance evaluation coordination and service problem identification and resolution. The Director develops and implements programs to monitor and evaluate the quality of services provided; assures compliance with practice standards; and develops and implements the Department’s goals. Patient population includes neonatal, pediatric, and select adult patients. Must demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served.
Doctor of Pharmacy (preferred) or Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college of pharmacy.
Master’s degree (MS, MBA, MHA, et al) and/or completion of a pharmacy residency program.
Five or more years of experience as a pharmacy assistant director, manager or coordinator (pediatrics preferred).
Demonstration of comprehensive knowledge of ambulatory clinical and operations workflows, business development, and data analysis.
Demonstration of strong clinical and managerial skills.
License to practice pharmacy in Ohio.
Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to motivate staff and to communicate effectively.
Excellent organizational and time management skills.
The ability to evaluate current methods of delivering service; plan improvement; and communicate and execute change.
