Implement and evaluate IDPH and Perinatal Center Quality Improvement Initiatives. Collect and analyze data. Conduct perinatal morbidity and mortality reviews. Facilitate tri-annual perinatal re-designation site visit. Evaluate educational programs/competencies for Providers and nurses. Monitor and evaluate maternal and neonatal transfer compliance.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND DUTIES
Responsible for maintaining compliance with Mount Sinai Hospital’s designation as a Level III Perinatal Center
Provides oversight of quality improvement activities related to pregnant women with high risk conditions and newborns requiring neonatal intensive care
Collects, enters and analyzes data on mothers and newborns for the purpose of data registry, summarizes data, and prepares data reports such as but not limited to morbidity and mortality
Coordinates and oversees the submission of perinatal outcomes data and statistics to the perinatal network and regulatory agencies
Collects, analyzes and reports perinatal data to internal and external stakeholders
Contributes to clinical policies that may impact performance improvement and quality assurance issues in the perinatal division
Serves as the point of contact for the various regulatory agencies
Acts as a System Administrator for relevant data collection systems
Prepares reports for performance improvement initiatives with the purpose of analyzing trends and providing information to process improvement team
Maintains a database of requests for information by internal & external stakeholders including regulatory agencies
Handles sensitive, confidential information responsibly
Demonstrates strong written and oral communication skills in a professional manner, representing the department in positive way
Performs other duties as assigned
Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (BSN) required. MSN preferred.
Minimum two years of nursing experience (Obstetrics or Neonatal preferred).
Knowledge of computer and demonstrated experience in the use of these database(s).
Verbal and written communication with multidisciplinary groups.
Strong analytical skills
REQUIRED LICENSES, Certificates, Registrations: Registered Nurse License In The State Of Illinois - Required. NCC specialty certification highly desired.
