Summary: Asan integral part of the Strategic Marketing and communications department, theGraphic Design Specialist must be a skilled designer able to design, create andmanage projects, be organized and self-direct their time. Our graphic designermust understand Cook Children's Promise to improve the health of every child inour region, and communicate that promise in innovative and creative marketingcollateral pieces and web/digital designs. Responsibilities also includehelping to maintain and evolve the Cook Children's brand and develop marketingspecific materials and templates that can be used System wide.
The role will help oversee a team of freelance designersthat assists us in meeting deadlines while maintaining our quality and brandstandards. Individual must be comfortable presenting work to partners orspeaking about brand to large groups.
Associates degree or art school certification in graphicdesign, web design, visual communication, advertising or related fieldrequired. Bachelor degree preferred.
Three to five years of related experience; creative agencybackground, health care and/or nonprofit experience a plus.
Training in fine arts/graphic design.
Knowledge of design programs including Adobe Creative Suite,Microsoft Office and other industry standard software.
Comfort on both Mac and PC platforms.
Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize workflow.
Ability to analyze information, prioritizes work, and makedecisions.
Creativity, enthusiasm, flexibility, and ability to meetdeadlines and manage a variety of projects simultaneously.
Must be diplomatic when dealing with challenging clients andteammates.
Able to understand and adhere to departmental and systemprocesses.
Self-sufficient and able to handle multiple projects.
Comfortable working directly with interdisciplinary team.
Project management capabilities, including estimating andnegotiating vendor costs, meeting deadlines, checking and approving of proofsand completing projects.
Fluent in Adobe Creative Suite - highly proficient inInDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop.
Four-color print design background with experience inpreparing digital files for print.
Flexibility to deal with unanticipated projects that havetight turnaround times by adjusting schedules for other projects and clearlycommunicating those changes to teammates.
Able to take direction from clients and teammates.
Confident in bringing ideas to the table. This is not aposition where all ideas will be written down and handed off; the artist willbe responsible for helping to bring projects to life.
