Summary: Responsible for collaborating in the development, implementation, and maintenance of an effective program that promotes safe care for pediatric patients at Lakeland Regional Medical Center by keeping patient safety at the center of all unit operations and clinical practice. The advanced knowledge and skills required for this role include clinical expertise in areas of: evidence-based practice, collaboration, consultation, evaluation and assessment of complex patients, education, mentoring, and change leadership. The Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) intervenes on an individual patient/family level, a nurse-nurse level, and a systems level to coordinate and guide clinical activities/projects to improve outcomes and to promote integrated health care that is safe, equitable, timely, effective and efficient.

Facilitates the discussion, addressing barriers identified. - Utilizes research to promote evidence-based practice. Keeps abreast of changing national standards of clinical practice and safety science literature. - Disseminates pertinent safety and specialty related information and contributes to the development and implementation of best practice guidelines for Pediatric Services.
Education equivalent experience: Essential: * Clinical Nurse Specialist preparation Nonessential: * DNP or PhD in Nursing
Other information: Experience Essential: - Five year recent acute care experience in specialty area - Level I PICU experience
Experienced Preferred: - Published author in peer-reviewed journal on topics related to specialty, presentation (podium or poster) at a regional or national conference on topic of evidence-based practice
Certifications Essential: CPN, PALS, BLS
Licenses Essential: Active Florida Registered Nurse License
