AMBULATORY CARE LEAD RN - Roxboro Road Pediatrics - Durham
Med Ped team Lead will provide day to day support for the Nurse Manager and act as a Liaison for the Medical team and Clinical staff in the Med Peds area at Duke Health Center at Roxboro Street. The position is broken into Administrative time 40 hours Clinical time 40 hours per 2 week pay period.
1. Plan and coordinate clinical requirements for staff and ensure that all CBO and CBE requirements for staff are current. 2. Plan and assist with coordination of staff schedules and submit for manager approval. 3. Coordinate clinical requirements with staff regarding equipment and supplies. 4. Consult with preceptors and orientees on a regular basis to provide support and determine how orientation should proceed on an individual basis. 5. Collaborate with the manager for issue resolutions and projects to improve work flow processes throughout the department utilizing a proactive approach. 6. Collaborate with different departments (radiology, lab, and registration) to resolve issues and improve work flow processes throughout the department. 7. Collaborate with the nurse managers in the interview process for new applicants. 8. Mentor/coach staff to enhance their professional development. Assesses the performance of assigned new hires and orientees including entry level nurses, nursing care assistants and health unit coordinators; provides ongoing feedback and coaching. 9. Understand and communicate potential clinical equipment or supply issues to appropriate team members. 10. Mentor and monitor the preceptors for all new employees. Provide clinical/education updates and skill check - offs to entire staff on a regular basis. 11. Provides immediate support and education on policy, procedures, equipment and supplies. 12. Responsible for learning, implementing and teaching new technology/procedures. 13. Demonstrates awareness of current problems and basic plan for all patients within assigned area. 14. Provides clinical consultation and guidance as needed to facilitate patient care. 15. Gives assistance and/or direction to staff to facilitate quality patient flow. 16. Assess staffing needs according to workload and staff competency; Re - assigns and adjusts staffing based upon patient care needs. 17. Delegates responsibilities within the scope of practice and validated competencies in order to meet the workload demandsof the shift. 18. Facilitates assignments that support learning for the orientee or nurse learner. 19. Promotes an atmosphere of open communication that facilitates staff input into decision - making, resolution of conflict, and collegiality among all health team members. 20. Communicates in an effective, professional manner. 21. Facilitates staff performance audits related to attitude, team performance, The Joint Commission, DFS Standards and PCMH initiatives. Reviews and comments on forwarded SRSs related to their team as needed. 22. Facilitates and encourages staff participation in departmental and entity committee and council meetings. 23. Attends departmental and entity committee meetings as assigned. 24. Coordinates, facilitates, participates and directs departmental projects with follow - through and appropriate follow - up. 25. Oversee all in baskets for Med Peds clinic staff 26. Oversee Nurse Triage for Med Peds 27. Oversee Prior Authorization process for Med Peds 28. Oversee the HIM process specific to Med Peds 29. Develop and monitor Anticoagulation, Diabetes and Hypertension as well as other patient education programming in conjunction with the Med Peds MD team for clinical staff. 30. Other projects and duties as directed by the department managers.

LICENSURE/ CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS Must have current or compact RN licensure in the state of North Carolina. BLS required.

Work requires graduation from an accredited nursing program with a BSN degree. Incumbents in this job classification effective on or before 10/01/2015 who currently hold an Associate's Degree in Nursing or a Nursing Diploma may remain in this classification under a
