PeaceHealth has a Clinical Educator/Mgr role available for the Labor & Delivery department at Sacred Heart Medical Center at Riverbend in Springfield, Oregon. This is a full-time salaried position with primary focus of providing clinical education to the Labor & Delivery caregivers.

This position is responsible for coordinating overall daily functions and providing operational leadership to the department under the direction of the Director/Nurse Manager. Also responsible for coordinating, planning and implementing education and training designed to maintain and enhance staff competence.
Work with Medical Director and other nursing managers and educators to provide effective and safe care to patients.
Assess staff clinical practice and serve as a resource to staff regarding patient care procedures, use of equipment and supplies.
Coordinate orientation programs and in-services to ensure staff competency. Work closely with manager and educators to plan orientation programs for new nursing staff and act as mentor/coach for new staff.
Ensure department compliance with all regulatory standards and lead staff to a culture of safety, continuous improvement and quality patient care. Collaborate with CHI staff, managers and charge nurses to provide education and promote compliance of patient safety goals.
Facilitate education for nursing personnel and other health care providers and ensure staff have ample opportunity to complete clinical competencies.
Model/mentor critical thinking in decision making.
Translate relevant nursing research into specialty area practice.
Collaborate and consult throughout the organization regarding contemporary clinical issues.
Work a flexible schedule that promotes ability to meet needs of staff on all shifts.
Performs other duties as assigned.
A minimum of five years recent acute care experience in related department required. Solid leadership background with both management and education experience preferred.
Current Registered Nurse licensure in state of practice required.
Specialty certification preferred.
Excellent nursing skills
Strong leadership and supervisory skills
Strong problem solving, decision making, time management, and financial/budgetary skills
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
Proficient computer skills including MS Office applications
RIVERBEND PHYSICAL/COGNITIVE REQUIREMENTS:
Work requires moderate physical exertion from 34 to 65% of the time.
Ability to lift objects weighing 50 lbs. or less.
Work requires frequent exposure to minor cold, heat, poor ventilation or sharp instruments such as syringes or lancets; reasonably anticipated exposure to blood and body fluids once per month or more
Duties require the ability to concentrate and pay close attention to detail (more than 65% of work time).
