Children’s Hospital of Richmond at VCU has made a commitment to the creation of a robust Heart Program that will serve the medical and surgical needs of the mid-Atlantic region. A Cardiologist will be an essential member of the team in the development of this program. A prominent Cardiovascular program is essential for a premier Children’s Hospital and will allow children in this area to be served locally rather than seeking care outside the market.
1.Teaching Faculty member will have teaching responsibilities in the area of Cardiology. Faculty member will provide guidance and mentorship to Residents and Chief Residents in the area of General Pediatrics.
2.Research Faculty member will have experience in securing revenue through grants and contracts and will serve as a research mentor to other members of the division and the department of Pediatrics.
3.Service Faculty member will serve on departmental or School of Medicine level committees when appropriate, as well as professional through journal review, conference presentations, etc.
4. Clinical Faculty member will provide oversight for clinical activities in the division of Cardiology in support of the clinical mission of CHoR of VCU Healthsystem.
5. Other (for instance administrative duties, etc.)
Board Certification in Pediatrics and Cardiology Experience with clinical care of patients ages birth to 21 Experience with education of house-staff, medical students, and others Experience with research Excellent interpersonal skills, ability to work with other division chiefs, and the ability to mentor more junior faculty
Demonstrated experience working in and fostering a diverse faculty, staff, and student environment or commitment to do so as a faculty member at VCU.
Sub-board and or additional graduate degree Experience with advocacy at local, state, and national level Success in generating revenue (grants/contracts)
