The Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner – Certified Nurse Midwife is responsible for the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of nurse midwifery care delivered to antepartum, intrapartum and postpartum patients as well as selected gynecology patients. The nurse-midwife functions independently, but in collaboration with the attending physician to provide midwifery services to patients. As indicated may supervise or oversee work of others responsible for patient care. Actively participates in outstanding customer service and accepts responsibility in maintaining relationships that are equally respectful to all.
Delivery of primary as well as specialized care provided in the labor and delivery, high-risk, and postpartum units
Master of Science degree in Nursing (MSN)
Master of Science degree in Nursing (MSN), specializing in Nurse Midwifery or
Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) (Preferred)
Licensure, Certification, or Registration Required:
Current, valid State of Florida ARNP /certified nurse midwife license
Credential as a Certified Nurse-Midwife (CNM) or Certified Midwife (CM) from an American College of Nurse-Midwives (ACNM) program and/or
National certification by the American Midwifery Certification Board (AMCB)

Performs appropriate diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, laboratory, and imaging studies and request professional consultations
Perform physical exams and health assessments, collects and documents laboratory and imaging data.
Evaluates triage patients, antepartum (PHRU) unit patients and patients in labor or who are postpartum, and performs superficial minor surgical procedures.
Manages the patient during labor and delivery to include amniotomy, episiotomy, and repair
Orders, initiates, and performs appropriate anesthetic procedures
Prescribes appropriate interventions and medications
Provides family-planning services and well-woman care
Manages the medical care of the normal obstetrical patient and the initial care of the newborn patient
Participates in teaching residents and students
Possesses research skills
