The Director of Professional Staff is responsible for ensuring that medical provider credentialing and licensing records are updated and processed, ensuring that related compliance requirements are met, communications with various board committees relative to credentialing, credentialing audit-related activities, and for representing CHKD in various professional membership groups.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Processes professional staff credentials' applications (physicians and allied health), which may require extensive involvement with State licensure bodies, criminal background processes, etc.
Performs liaise activities between physicians and hospital administration, requiring the use of tact and diplomacy in dealing with issues that could involve conflicting interests. Interacts with various Board of Director committees and committee leaders and the CHKD CEO, to collect and distribute committee materials and minutes, to handle committee resolutions, etc. Participates as staff member to the Professional Affairs committee of the System Board of Directors.
Participates as CHKD representatives on Delegated Credentialing Audits performed by managed care firms, to maintain hospital Delegated Status.
Responsible for Medical Staff Standards component of health system accreditation entity, completing Medical Staff PPR component.
Assists with updating Physician Hospital Organization (PHO) policies relative to NCQA standards.
Participates as staff member to CHN Membership/Credentials Committee.
Serves as subject matter expert in the field of medical staff services, providing mentor expertise within the CHKD system, as well as those in the field through national association activities.
Responsible for compliance with Medical Staff Standards component of organizations such as Joint Commission and DNV-GL.
Has sole responsibility for Professional Staff Ongoing Professional Practice Evaluation (OPPE) and Focused Professional Practice Evaluation (FPPE) within the Professional Staff Office.
Liaison with outside legal counsel and hospital administration when required for credentialing issues.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:
Bachelor's degree required, ideally in a health care related field.
Two or more years of hospital professional staff experience, preferably in a similar capacity as this position.
Exceptional interpersonal, written and oral communication skills. Ability to be persistent but to also be diplomatic in the approach to seek information and to follow up on requests.
Exceptional attention to detail and organizational abilities.
Demonstrated ability to communicate with and relate well with all levels of personnel, to include Board members, physicians, CHKD executive leadership, etc.
Demonstrated ability to effectively gather, analyze and exchange information through oral, written and formal reporting processes.
