Nemours Children's Health System is seeking a Program Manager of Quality Improvement & Risk Management, FULL-TIME, to join our team Jacksonville, FL. Based in Jacksonville, frequent travel throughout the State of Florida is required, to include Jacksonville & Pensacola.
This position is responsible for direct management of all risk, quality and patient safety activities for the Nemours' North Florida Operation, which includes Jacksonville and Pensacola Clinics, all satellite locations and all affiliate operations. Responsibilities include oversight and direct participation in the collecting, organizing, compiling, documenting, and analyzing data from a variety of sources to produce reports from which opportunities for quality/safety improvement, intervention and educational activities can be identified. Educating staff in risk management, continuous quality improvement and patient safety concepts, processes, and tools. As necessary, researches and provides education on state, federal and other regulatory agencies' standards as they relate to the scope of responsibilities. Utilizes the quality methodology in training departments and multi-disciplinary teams. Works with the Health Care Team at all levels of the organization to design and implement data collection methodologies, databases, action plans, and reporting strategies. Facilitate teams as necessary to achieve performance and practice improvement within the organization. Performs first level interventions on all events associated with patients, visitors, families and associates. Facilitates coordination of peer review and legal review activity. Provides guidance to staff of all affiliates on all matters associated with these activities indicated above.
Coordinate and participate in the collection of data from medical records, logs, databases and reporting systems that support risk management, performance improvement and patient safety activities of the Practice. Coordinate and facilitate the Failure Mode, Effects Analysis and Root Cause Analysis processes including preparation of supporting documents.
Participate as a member of committees and other teams as assigned. Cross cover as needed, to meet the responsibilities of the corporate department as a whole.
Facilitate the participation of individual department, service or Medical Staff in enterprise-wide risk/quality/safety activities.
Support the Medical Staff peer review process through screening, case identification and referral.
Assist in the identification of specific organizational needs and priorities related to risk management, quality improvement and patient safety utilizing a variety of sources including, but not limited to, incident reports, measurement data, outcome reports, variance reports, patient/staff suggestions, team recommendations, comparative data, regulatory standards/reports, focus groups and knowledge-based information.
Establish a process, in collaboration with management staff and or administrative staff for proactive risk assessment of the Practice to identify opportunities for improvement.
Educate and act as a resource to all hospital and practice personnel on risk reduction, quality methodologies and regulatory standards related to risk, quality and patient safety. Participate in new employee, supervisor, medical staff, and resident orientation pertaining to risk management, quality improvement and patient safety.
Conduct concurrent and retrospective focused studies to evaluate and analyze targeted areas of performance.
Analyze data to identify trends and opportunities for improvement as assigned. Prepare findings into meaningful information using forms, reports, graphs, tables, slides, and other documents to efficiently communicate results for operational planning, performance improvement opportunities etc.
Assist managers and employees to identify action plans to reduce risk to associates, visitors, patients and improve performance and safety in the Practice.
Supervises the activities of the Performance Improvement Coordinator at NCCO.
Provide administrative leadership to the following committees in Northern Florida: Peer Review, Patient Safety and Event Review. This includes coordinating all agendas, presentations, event reviews, required reporting and follow up.
Work directly with administrative and medical leadership at all operating sites to achieve success in quality/patient safety and risk management associated goals and activities.
Prepares reports for the Board and senior leadership upon request.
Coordinates all Root Cause Analysis and Intensive Analysis as appropriate. Reports as expected to AHCA and other agencies when necessary.
Bachelor's degree in a healthcare related field required.
Minimum one (1) to Three (3) years' experience as a Healthcare Risk Manager required; experience in the management of the program preferred.
CPHRM or ARM desirable, but not required.
RN/CPHQ Certification preferred.
Licensed Risk Manager-Florida preferred.
