Position Summary: We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Manager, Pharmacy Informatics.
In this role, the successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating pharmacy information systems and automation for all facilities within the NYU Medical Center Pharmacies. Analyzing current pharmacy workflows that may contribute to medication errors and/or dispensing delays and takes proactive intra-departmental steps for their prevention. Utilize a pharmacy informatics approach, supported by real time data, to help reduce the likelihood of medication processing errors and/or dispensing delays. Identifies best practices, for medication safety and dispensing efficiency, and implements these findings. Initiates or supports a multidisciplinary approach help reduce the incidents and impact of errors/inefficiencies while assuring timely dispensing and delivery of medications.
Responsible for providing cost effective approach to all assignments.
Represents pharmacy in various IT- related committees and acts as liaison with the Department of Information Technology.
Participates in completing user documentation and training procedures. Supports resolution of all general computer related issues within the Pharmacy Department and assists in the maintenance and trouble shooting of workstations and peripherals throughout the department as needed.
Develops and monitors testing scenarios and methodology to demonstrate system effectiveness.
Ensures the modification of existing systems through change management controls extensive testing and coordination with all systems, validation of changes to meet regulatory requirements (HIPAA, CPT, ICD-9).
Provides data transfer, access and manipulation of aggregate and comparative data. Provides assistance with system options selection, system maintenance/upgrade and implementation, including system definition, build, testing and conversion planning and interfaces.
Coordinates activities of assigned projects or particular phases of a given project. Develops detailed work plans, timelines; identifies appropriate resources needed and provided timely status reports.
Provides application implementation support, technical guidance, and serve as primary resolution point for all issues regarding assigned applications.
Minimum Qualifications: To qualify you must have a current NYS license and greater than five years of hospital inpatient pharmacy practice. Certification of one or more pharmacy systems preferably with an Epic module
