Required Qualifications: (As evidenced by an attached resume) Doctoral degree (equivalent) in the biological sciences and the necessary experience in basic cell and molecular biology techniques.
Preferred Qualifications include: Maintenance of mice colonies and genetics of animal models, handling and dissecting of animals (mice). Experience with Immunohistochemistry, immunofluorescent, flow cytometry. Data analysis and manuscript preparation, including producing figures for manuscripts. Laboratory maintenance, including keeping a detailed laboratory notebook, and managing undergraduate students.
Brief Description of Duties: The successful individual will be appointed as a Postdoctoral Associate in the Department of Medicine, Division of Nephrology. The overall research goal of the laboratory is to study factors involved in the maintenance of homeostasis of the kidney epithelium under physiological and pathophysiological conditions. The Postdoctoral Associate will work independently and as a team member on animal and cell culture models. Conduct experiments in animal models, including maintaining breeding stocks, genotyping and monitoring health on a regular basis. Cell culture and biochemical techniques such as RNA isolation, real-time RT-PCR, ELISA, immunohistochemistry, immunofluorescent, flow cytometry and Western blotting will be used to complement the animal models. Literature searches; staying current in the field by reading and discussing the literature and experimental results with the supervisor and PI. Write and prepare manuscripts based on the experimental findings. Other duties as assigned. Special Notes: The Research Foundation of SUNY is a private educational corporation.
