The Certified Anesthesia Technician (Cer.A.T.) is part of the Anesthesia Care Team that assists licensed anesthesia providers in the acquisition, preparation and application of the equipment and supplies required for the administration of anesthesia. They provide this service by preparing and maintaining anesthesia equipment and supplies before, during and after anesthesia. The Cer.A.T. has successfully completed the examination requirements established by the American Society of Anesthesia of Anesthesia Technologists and Technicians (ASATT). The Cer.A.T. demonstrates practical knowledge in some general areas of anesthesia, and demonstrates expertise in all general areas involved in the support of anesthesia. Participates in call and off-shift coverage as required by departmental guidelines.
High School Graduate or equivalent (GED) certificate.
Successful completion of the examination requirements established by the ASATT for Anesthesia Technician certification.
A minimum of two years experience as a Anesthesia Technician.
Current BLS Certification.
Continuing education requirements for certification as required by ASATT.
