The Director of Infection Control is responsible for the Cook Children's Healthcare System Infection Prevention and Control Program. The position will develop, direct and coordinate the implementation of the infection control program for the medical center, ambulatory surgery center, urgent care centers, home health and pediatric practices. Additionally, the Infection Control Director is responsible for the development and implementation of policies and procedures using evidence based practices, regulatory requirements and national guidelines to prevent healthcare acquired infections. The Director is expected to exercise authority, accountability and responsibility for the management of infection control practices, department personnel management and overall staff and program development.
Current license to practice professional nursing in the State of Texas or current MT/MLT certification
Bachelor's degree in Nursing from an accredited program or Bachelor's degree in Laboratory Sciences with a Master's Degree in Public Health or Epidemiology required
Minimum of 3 years of Infection Control experience in a hospital setting is required
Minimum of 2 years of Management or Director experience is required
