Basic Purpose of the Job: Supervises the activities and personnel assigned to the ETCH Sterile Processing department. Coordinates the processing of sterile instruments for the Surgery Unit and applicable ambulatory clinics. Ensures the proper care of all instruments and equipment in the Sterile Processing department. Maintains good working relationships with co-workers and other Hospital employees. Ensures compliance with Hospital and departmental policies and procedures. Schedules technicians to work, assists in writing and revising policies and procedures, and helps establish core competencies for technicians.
Minimum Education: High school graduation or equivalency and completion of a course for surgical technicians in an accredited school or two years recent experience in an operating room setting is required. An associate's degree is preferred.
Minimum Work Experience: Two years in instrument room processing, central service processing with some supervisory responsibility is preferred.
Required Licenses/Certifications for Position: CRCST or Certified Surgical Technologist required.

Heavy lifting, pushing and pulling is required up to 50 lbs occasionally, 20-30 lbs frequently and 10 lbs constantly to move objects of up to 150 lbs. Sudden emergency situations have the potential for exposure to lifting or moving of up to 150 lbs. Frequent bending, walking, sitting, squatting, reaching and standing are required. Keyboard/computer use and/or repetitive motions may be required.
