Summary: Reports to the School Director and is responsible for the educational, behavioral and social development of students and the record keeping tasks of the school. Provides a structured and safe environment that includes consistent expectations, a neuro-sequential model of therapeutics, clear expectations, follow through and direct involvement with the child in the educational and therapeutic experiences. Oversees and partners with the educational mental health worker. Performs related duties as required.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities Include the Following:
Performs all responsibilities in a manner that is reflective of the mission and philosophy of Mount St. Vincent
Continually updates skills through supervision, education, workshops, in-services, and conferences.
Assists with classroom upkeep, cleanliness and organization.
Maintains current certifications (e.g., TCI, Lower levels, CPR, First Aid, AED, EVOLV, Universal Precautions) and trainings (e.g., NMT, Somatosensory).
Responsible to know and implement crisis prevention/intervention techniques (i.e. TCI training, time-out, locked door quiet room) as well as procedures (i.e. runaway, injury, emergency).
Attends and participates in agency meetings and committees
Actively participates in IEP meetings, staff meetings, school learning fair, back to school night and other school activities.
Participates in Service Plan Quarterly Reviews and additional and additional staffing related to children in their classroom as needed.
Attends Medication consults with the psychiatrist when necessary
Completes documents, using agency forms, on critical incidences (e.g., therapeutic physical managements, medical incidences, state reports) and completes these tasks in a timely manner.
Documents children's progress and concerns in daily progress notes, behavior tracking sheets, and School Quarterly Reports.

Education/ Experience: All teaching positions require a Bachelor's Degree and Current Colorado teaching license. Preferably one year of relevant experience in a school serving children with special needs. Teacher I: Accepted /enrolled into a teaching program and obtain a SETA/TTE (Special Education Teaching Authorization/ Temporary Teaching Endorsement). Teacher II : Teacher certification but obtaining Endorsement in the Generalist/Special Education. Teacher III: Teacher certification and endorsement in special education. Teacher IV: Master 's Degree with teacher certification and endorsement in special education.
