BASIC PURPOSE OF THE JOB Coordinates communications between the laboratory and other hospital departments, physicians, offices and the outside world via the hospital/laboratory information system, telephone, written word, and personal contact. Assists and processes specimens for reference laboratory procedures; assists with other duties in the laboratory and hospital that do not require licensure as assigned. JOB REQUIREMENTS Minimum Education High School/GED Required Minimum Work Experience 2 years related experience required Required Licenses/Certifications for position NO Required Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities Knowledge of specimen requirements for reference laboratory tests, aliquoting procedures, and storage and shipping requirements of specimens. Skill in clerical duties to include organizing, accurate completion of forms, and filing of reference laboratory reports. Skill in both verbal and written communication. Is able to multitask, handle stress appropriately, and work in a fast-paced environment. Works well with others and consistently displays a courteous, professional attitude in all situations PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS Note: Reasonable accommodations may be made for individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of this position. Medium lifting, pushing and pulling is required for 20-50 lbs occasionally, 10-20 lbs frequently and 10 lbs constantly to move objects. Keyboard/computer use and/or repetitive motions may be required.
