The Art Therapist builds a relationship of rapport and trust with pediatric patients and their families by encouraging expression of thoughts and feelings through developmentally appropriate art media. The Art Therapist demonstrates compassion and understanding to support families from a variety of backgrounds and children with a variety of different health care needs. The Art Therapist must be able to assess patient needs and implement appropriate Art Therapy interventions.REQUIRED--Master's Degree in Art Therapy, Counseling, Fine Arts, or another discipline that would qualify the incumbent for registration as an Art Therapist by the American Art Therapy Association.--Registered Art Therapist or eligibility for or actively working toward registration as an Art Therapist.--Knowledge of art activities appropriate to age levels 12 months -18 years.--Knowledge and skills to teach the use of various art mediums and modalities.--Skills to work with groups of all ages and developmental levels, as well as one to one in a therapeutic relationship.--Knowledge of medical terminology.--Interpersonal and public speaking skills to convey instructions, directions, and information appropriately and accurately. SPECIAL REQUIREMENT--Must be able to work flexible schedule to meet the needs of the department.--THIS POSITION MAY BE SUBJECT TO A CRIMINAL BACKGROUND INVESTIGATION, DRUG SCREEN, LIVE SCAN FINGERPRINTING, MEDICAL EVALUATION CLEARANCE, AND FUNCTIONAL CAPACITY ASSESSMENT
