The Clinical Staff Leader is adirect supervisory leadership role and a key member of the Nursing leadershipteam. The CSL leads a cohort of staff members and actively participates inoverall management of the unit, development of clinical practice, and provisionof patient care with accountabilities for implementation and outcomes forpeople leadership, quality, service, compliance, finance, throughput andscheduling. The primary focus of the Clinical Staff Leader is to ensure theunit's optimal performance by engaging in effective problem solving for staff,patients and families and to develop/lead the assigned cohort. The ClinicalStaff Leader provides feedback and coaching to staff members, recognizing themfor their contributions while fostering a high performance culture. The CSLworks under the guidance and direction of the manager to develop.
Interacts with and contributes to the professional development of their cohort and other staff as needed.
Defines standards for quality patient care.
Develops, manages and evaluates area based on work team performance.
Manages multiple projects/on-going work activities (timelines, work plans, deliverables) and maintains alignment with strategic plan and vision.
Acts as clinical leader and facilitates education for staff on clinical standards; routinely provides guidance/coaching to subordinates/peers within clinical specialty(ies).
Ensures that clinical assignments are based on patient care needs and demonstrated staff competencies.

Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (or Associate's Degree with 5years leadership experience) and 1 year relevant experience

A typical shift for our staff includes working with a vast arrayof patient populations. One shift may be in the Newborn Nursery caringfor healthy infants, while the next shift could be in our Myelosuppression Unitcaring for a child who has recently undergone a Bone Marrow Transplant. Our staff has a diversity of experience and are always willing to share theirknowledge with others.
Our care partners float to all areas of the hospital and most are cross-trainedas medical receptionists and can cover either job. In addition to their regularduties our care partners maintain a competency to perform EKGâs after hours andcover this function throughout the hospital.
