The Department of Pediatrics, Division of Pediatric Neonatal is recruiting for Assistant/Associate Professor level with the primary focus of clinical service for all neonates admitted to the neonatal intensive care units (NICUs) managed by the Section of Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine.
Clinical service to include: Primary day time attending coverage in the NICU at Riley Hospital for Children at IU Health with the possibility of day time service at other NICUs managed by the Section of Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine, if needed; primary night call responsibilities in the NICU at Riley Hospital for Children at IU Health. Call expectations will be similar to other full time faculty at Riley and will include weeknights and weekends. Preeminent clinical service in a NICU with a high-risk delivery service and consultation with high-risk mothers on the obstetric service; Active participation in the Resident and Fellow education program within the Section of Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine and Department of Pediatrics. Advocacy for the needs of high risk neonates and their families as appropriate.
The Section of Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine at Indiana University School of Medicine is one of the leading neonatology programs in the United States, providing neonatology faculty for 9 clinical sites in central Indiana (total of 252 beds and 2,745 admissions) including the level 3C neonatal intensive care unit at Riley Hospital for Children at Indiana University Health in Indianapolis.

Board Eligible or Board Certified in Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine with the American Board of Pediatrics; Certificate of Completion from an Accredited Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine Training Program or equivalent; Understanding of how changes in the fetal environment in maternal diabetes lead to the development of diabetes in adult offspring; Demonstrated expertise and understanding of the molecular mechanisms underlying fetally programmed insulin resistance and beta cell dysfunction secondary to hyperglycemia; Superb interpersonal, communication, professional, and organizational skills.
