The Section of Hospital Pediatrics and the Division of General Pediatrics and Adolescent Medicine (GPAM) at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill is recruiting a full-time fixed-term open rank physician to work as a hospitalist. Clinical responsibilities will include daytime teaching service on pediatric wards and newborn nursery, occasional in-house night coverage with direct patient care, inpatient child abuse consultations, and supervision of residents and teaching of medical students.
North Carolina Children's Hospital (NCCH) is one of the leading tertiary care providers in the Southeast with full range of specialty and surgical care. The Section of Hospital Pediatrics is a busy and diverse inpatient group that includes two inpatient teaching services with over 2000 discharges a year and 24/7 in-house coverage. Additionally, we have a consult service and coordinate admissions and transfers for all medical patients leading efforts for pediatric patient safety and flow across the medical center. Our services and providers focus on the care of children with medical complexity and co-management with medical and surgical specialty consultants. Our faculty are academically productive in many areas including medical education, quality improvement and patient safety. There is a strong culture of collaboration, cooperation and mentorship. Education and Experience:
Applicants must be board eligible/certified in pediatrics and should have broad clinical experience, a record of teaching excellence and interest in improving the care of hospitalized children. Ideal applicants would also have experience in quality improvement, medical education and a record of scholarship and education. Fellowship training in pediatric hospital medicine is desirable.
