The Division of Pediatric Pulmonology at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and the North Carolina Children's Hospital is seeking an individual to join a busy and productive academic practice. This is a part-time (50-75%), clinician-educator, fixed-term faculty position, with focus on outpatient outreach clinics but also to include coverage of bronchoscopy and inpatient/consultation services. Depending on the success of outreach efforts, the position has the potential to expand to full time. Rank will be determined at a level commensurate with the applicant's experience and accomplishments.
The Division of Pediatric Pulmonary Medicine offers an exceptionally collaborative environment for the care of children with the full spectrum of pulmonary diseases including cystic fibrosis, asthma, primary ciliary dyskinesia, complex airway disease, bronchopulmonary dysplasia and other types of chronic lung disease. The program has outstanding expertise in flexible bronchoscopy, facilities for infant/preschool and standard lung function testing, and a growing lung transplant program. The clinical programs provide a multidisciplinary care approach and stress continuity of care through partnership with primary care providers. Clinical care is provided at the NC Children's Hospital and at the NC Children's Specialty Clinic in Raleigh; and at outreach or collaborating sites including clinics in Greensboro, Greenville, Sanford, and Wilmington. In addition, strong basic and translational research programs provide opportunities to participate and lead clinical trials for innovative therapies through collaborative work within the institution and as part of national research networks.
Education and Experience:
Position requires MD or MD/PhD, training and being Board Certified/Board Eligible in Pediatric Pulmonology, with a NC medical license. Preference will be given to candidates with experience in outpatient management of severe asthma, technology-dependent respiratory disorders, and other chronic pulmonary disorders.
