Advertised Summary Job Description: The Department of Pediatrics is seeking a Research Assistant to join our team in a full time position. Columbia University Medical Center's Department of Pediatrics is a world leader in providing care for children. Our mission areas include Healthcare, Education and Research. We offer care for our patients in over 25 specialty areas as well as individualized care for complex cases. Our Residency, Fellowship and Graduate programs are among the best in the Nation. Our Clinical, Translational and Basic Science research features collaborations across specialties and stretches from the bench to bedside. We also have several active Clinical trials available to our patients. This position will support the department by providing assistance with recruitment of subjects and assisting with study-related procedures for our Merck funded studies in respiratory syncytial virus (RSV).
Job Duties and responsibilities: 1. Recruit subjects and obtain informed consent 2. Perform assessment of capacity to provide consent 3. Collect and transport nasal swabs 4. Collect and transport blood samples; phlebotomy experience highly desirable. 5. Conduct interviews and medical record review 6. Perform follow up-visits as well as phone calls for a subset of participants 6. Collect and enter data into electronic database in a secure confidential manner 7. Assist PI and Coordinator prepare study reports 8. Participate in regular CUMC team meetings and conference calls with Merck scientists. -Any other related duties as assigned
General Minimum Qualifications: Requires a bachelor's degree and at least 1.5 years of related experience or equivalent in education, training and experience.
