CRITICAL CARE PHYSICIANThe University of Chicago's Department of Pediatrics, Section of Critical Care, is searching for a full-time faculty member at any rank. The successful applicant will be a full-time clinical faculty member who will provide coverage for the Comer Children's Hospital PICU, Sedation Services and Palliative Care services, teach medical students, residents and fellows, and do scholarly activity. Opportunities for leadership positions will be available as appropriate. Academic rank and compensation (including a generous package of fringe benefits) are dependent upon qualifications. We especially welcome applicants with scholarship relevant to clinical practice including palliative care, medical education, quality improvement, and/or policy-based interventions in pediatric critical care, and with clinical practice experience beyond Fellowship training. Board certification and excellence in Pediatric Palliative Care is also preferred. The Section of Pediatric Critical Care has 13 full-time faculty members, a fully accredited fellowship program, and a 30 bed PICU, which admits approximately 1600 patients/year. The Section also runs the Pediatric Sedation Service with ~1500 patients per year including both inpatient and ambulatory procedures. Palliative Care Service is a developing service line that is growing rapidly and will benefit from an established palliative care clinician. Faculty members are actively involved in research and scholarship across a wide range of clinical research, quality improvement, medical education and translational projects.Prior to the start of employment, qualified applicants must: 1) have a medical doctorate or equivalent, 2) hold or be eligible for medical licensure in the State of Illinois, 3) be BC/BE in Pediatric Critical Care Medicine, and 4) have cared for complex and critically ill infants, children and adolescents during the past five years.
