The ACT (paramedic) is part of the Anesthesia Care Team that assists licensed anesthesia providers in the acquisition, preparation and application of the equipment and supplies required for the administration of anesthesia. They provide this service by preparing and maintaining anesthesia equipment and supplies before, during and after anesthesia. The ACT (paramedic) has successfully completed the requirements for certification/licensure as established by the Texas Department of State Health Services. The ACT (paramedic) demonstrates advanced knowledge in some general areas related to anesthesia, and demonstrates expertise in all general areas involved in the support of anesthesia. The ACT (paramedic) also demonstrates expertise in supporting anesthesia in specialty areas (e.g., cardiac, pediatrics). Technical training specific to the Anesthesia Technician role is provided on the job. Participates in call and off-shift coverage as required by departmental guidelines.
High School Graduate or equivalent (GED) certificate.
Paramedic certificate or license.
One year experience as paramedic preferred.
Current BLS, ACLS, PALS Certification.
Continuing education requirements for certification/licensure as required by the Texas Department of State Health Services.
