Advertised Summary Job Description: The Department of Pediatrics is seeking a Nurse Practitioner to join our team in a full time (F/T) position. Columbia University Medical Center's Department of Pediatrics is a world leader in providing care for children. Our mission areas include Healthcare, Education and Research. Our Clinical, Translational and Basic Science research features collaborations across specialties and stretches from the bench to bedside. We also have several active Clinical trials available to our patients. This position will support the department by providing nurse practitioner duties to our division of Nephrology.
The pediatric nephrology nurse practitioner will be responsible for the following duties and responsibilities: -Assessment and management of patients, including diagnostics and therapeutic interventions, under a medical collaborative agreement for patients with general nephrology issues, chronic renal disease and end-stage renal failure needing dialysis and kidney transplantation -Complete patient's history and physical, order and interpret lab tests and discuss test results with patients and families -Collaborate in-patient and out-patient managements with the pediatric nephrology team, educate patients and families about kidney disease and treatment, and address culture and economic concerns -Act as patient advocate, work with nephrology team to obtain medications and verify that discharge from in-patient service or renal clinic is timely and accurate -The position may warrant participation in "on-call" rotation with partners in pediatric nephrology team, engagement in quality improvement projects and related research.
General Minimum Qualifications: Requires a bachelor's degree or equivalent in education and experience, plus four years of related experience.
