This position is in the Department of Pediatrics Allergy, Immunology & Pulmonary. The position is located at the Northwest Tower. This position is for the Medical School Campus.
Schedules appointments for clinical services, and ensures that families, patients, referring physicians and all other callers are treated with compassion and respect. Obtains required demographics, insurance information, referral forms and medical reports and records.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
As the primary contact for incoming calls, greets all callers with professionalism and customer service skills.
Uses the computerized scheduling system EPIC to schedule new and return patient appointments as well as associated ancillaries.� Obtain and enter into the EPIC fields inclusive of all demographic, patient history, referral and insurance information completely and accurately.� Insurance and Demographic information must be verified each visit and verification must be documented in EPIC.� Maintains a 95% compliance rate of completing all required registration fields.� Schedules according to Washington University Policies and HIPAA guidelines.
Obtains scans and maintains current patient records and EMR. Facilitates medical records requests.
Keeps abreast of insurance information via FSC Wizard and understands how this impacts the scheduled visit and need for referral.
Mails new patient packets, sends reminder letters and makes calls regarding upcoming clinic appointment. Follows up on clinic cancellations, to ensure the clinic work flow.
Assists physicians/nurses in responding to patient calls, gathering and sending information to appropriate individuals, and other duties as needed.
Distributes mail, faxes, and correspondence timely and efficiently.
Other duties as assigned.�
High school diploma with 3 years of experience in billing systems and third-party claims and/or experience in a medical office setting or related customer service/office experience.
Basic Life Support certification (Online BLS certifications, those without a skills assessment component, are not sufficient to meet the BLS requirements).
Demonstrates interpersonal skills and working knowledge of insurance and financial options.
Customer service oriented.
Pleasant telephone demeanor.
The hiring range for this position is $15.54 - $19.05 per hour.
