The Director of Clinical Nutrition will be responsible for:
Managing and overseeing the operations of the Center for Nutrition for the Hospital and off?site medical care sites. Collaborating with clinical and management staff to monitor develop and implement programs and services.
Developing and implementing goals/objectives, policies and procedures, and standards of care in collaboration with other health care provider departments and advisory/oversight committees. Monitoring and maintaining compliance with departmental quality improvement initiatives and governmental and accreditation requirements. Collaborating with management staff to plan and prioritize department?wide goals and objectives.
Selecting, training and supervising Center for Nutrition personnel. Developing and maintaining master staffing schedules. Monitoring and evaluating work performance and initiating personnel actions such as promotions, merit increases and disciplinary actions.
Evaluating, developing and conducting orientation, clinical training and continuing education programs for the department and other hospital allied health personnel. Working with the legal department to review and revise program contracts with outside institutions.
Collaborating with the Food service Department to monitor and evaluate patient food service systems, patient menus and food and formula specifications. Developing, recommending and implementing changes in systems, policies and procedures as necessary to improve efficiency and quality of patient care.
Managing and allocating resources for capital budgets and assigned cost centers.
Developing, maintaining and utilizing knowledge of current nutrition, clinical practice, food service, management and reimbursement trends and practices. Attending and participating in professional organizations, conferences and other educational programs to obtain and share information.
Providing direct patient care as necessary.
To qualify, you must have:
Bachelor's degree in nutrition or a closely related field plus up to one year of post?degree course work and/or an internship and 5-10 years of pediatric experience; and an advanced degree in nutrition or a related field.
Ability to effectively manage the employees within the Nutrition Department and effectively deal with conflicting views or issues and mediate fair and workable solutions.
Registration by the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics as a dietitian is required as well as licensure by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
