The Neonatal Intensive Care Unit is a licensed 24 bed Level III specialty unit providing care for 22.6 weeks to full term infants who require intensive interventions and monitoring. Our family centered philosophy provides support for parents and family members during their infant's stay in the NICU. The unit is located on the 4th floor, south wing of the 1962 building. There are two large rooms designated for patient care, an isolation room, a feeding room where parents can feed their infant(s), and a room designed for parents to provide overnight care of their infant(s) prior to discharge. Other rooms within the NICU suite include a staff lounge and storage. A quality process improvement program monitors the care of patients and the outcomes of that care.
Our nurses provide knowledgeable and caring clinical practice and care coordination through an understanding of patient, family, nurse, and healthcare delivery team. Ensures improvements in practice settings by assuming responsibility for self-development in life-long learning. Provides direction and guidance to others regarding practice. Serves as a resource, preceptor, and mentor. Demonstrates leadership skills in decision making and problem solving.
