This is a full time, 60 hours every two weeks, position for a Registered Nurse in Pre Op hours may vary from 6am-7pm, (12 and 10 hour shifts) with working and call requirements for weekend and holiday rotation. You will be cross trained to PACU and will need to support both areas based on unit need.
The Preoperative Holding RN completes pre-op assessments of same day outpatient and inpatient surgical patients; prepares patients for surgical and/or invasive procedures; communicates patient needs with the appropriate health care providers; and provides follow-up with the Perioperative Nurse Manager,Patient Flow Supervisors, advanced practice nurses, surgeons, and anesthesia providers. The Preoperative Holding RN follows anesthesia guidelines, hospital policies, and implements preoperative orders. The Preoperative holding nurse also follows Universal Protocol, institutes normothermia and effective pain management measures, follows VTE and SCIP protocols and collaborates effectively with other disciplines as appropriate.
Graduate of accredited school of nursing, BSN required, or currently enrolled in a BSN Program
Must have critical care experience (NICU, PICU, CICU)
Previous experience in pediatric nursing Required
PALS Certification Required
Delaware or compact state registered nurse license required
