he Neonatal Nurse Practitioner Unit Based Per Diem, under the supervision of the attending Neonatologist and Nurse Practitioner III-Supervisor, will provide nurse practitioner clinical expertise to a select group of high-risk neonates from admission to discharge. This primary care includes: examining, evaluating, diagnosing and establishing a treatment plan; dictating admission, transfer and discharge summaries; and other commonly performed neonatal clinical activities, including: attending high risk deliveries, neonatal resuscitations and neonatal transports. The NNP UBPD will act as an expert resource person for health care providers, orients/precepts new nurse practitioners to the responsibilities of the service, and conducts research and teaching programs.REQUIRED - Graduation from an accredited School of Nursing. - Graduation from an accredited NNP Program - Possession of a valid CA RN and NP license - Has or eligible for a furnishing license - Master of Science in Nursing - NCC Board Certification as Neonatal Nurse Practitioner (NNP-BC) within twelve months of hire.PREFERRED -At least one year paid Neonatal Nurse Practitioner experience in a similar setting - Doctorate Degree. SPECIAL REQUIREMENT - Must be able to work variable shifts and take calls - Must be able to hear well enough to make assessments of patients, receive frequent telephone calls and present educational classes - Must be able to speak well enough to present intramural and extramural education, provide informational offerings, and educate patients and families - Must be able to see well enough to read small gauges and printed materials - Must be able to stand for prolonged periods - THIS POSITION MAY BE SUBJECT TO A CRIMINAL BACKGROUND INVESTIGATION, DRUG SCREEN, LIVE SCAN FINGERPRINTING, MEDICAL EVALUATION CLEARANCE, AND FUNCTIONAL CAPACITY ASSESSMENT
