The Health Sciences Sequencing Core is seeking an Assistant Director.
The candidate will serve as a consultant to principal investigators in the experimental design and execution of scientific research projects involving NextGen Sequencing technologies. In addition, the candidate will be responsible for supervising technical staff that will be involved in nucleic acid purification and the generation of cDNA and DNA libraries for high throughput sequencing and related assays. The Assistant Director will manage the facility and coordinate the use of all instruments to maximize all projects conducted as well as review all QC data and experimental results. The position will also be responsible for the design, execution, and interpretation of a variety of experiments in the core. The incumbent will also develop standard operating procedures and conduct and/or oversee complex lab testing involving various medical research. Other duties include developing methods and procedures to be used in research protocols and experiments, analyzing assay and test results, and providing input into the final report.
This position will possibly require flexibility with shift/hours and may be required to work on the evenings and weekends. In addition, possible travel for meetings/conferences may be involved.

Master's required with at least 5 years of post-graduate research experience (or equivalent combination) in related field of study or PhD preferred with 1-3 years of post-graduate research experience in a related field of study.
Equivalent relevant work experience may be substituted for degree requirement.
