Required Qualifications (as evidenced by attached resume):
Bachelor's Degree (foreign equivalent or higher degree) . Three years of full-time administrative experience. Proficient, professional experience in word processing, spreadsheet management, electronic messaging and/or internet applications (Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Google Apps, etc...). Experience successfully working independently as well as part of a team.
Advanced degree(foreign equivalent or higher degree). Experience working with PI's and/or faculty on grant-supported projects. Experience coordinating multi-PI grants. Experience providing administrative support to a graduate training and/or undergraduate degree program. Administrative experience in a Higher Education/Academic environment.
This position is responsible for supporting the research and scholarly activities of the Neurobiology and Behavior department as it relates to the technical administration of grants, organizational support of personnel involved in research, and to the administrative support of the department's Master's program.
The successful incumbent will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, exercising strong organizational and time-management skills with an exceptional attention to detail. Essential for this role is the adeptness to work independently as well as part of a team with a collaborative approach to problem solving.
Provide research administrative support to departmental personnel proposing for funding through a variety of federal agencies and non-federal organizations. Assist with myRESEARCH requirements, budgets, approvals, submission processes, and all non-science related grant submission tasks.
Serve as a liaison between PI's and funding officials or sponsored programs personnel. Communicate with investigators and sponsors.
Working closely with the Program Director, responsible for managing the overall academic integrity, quality and viability of the Neurobiology and Behavior MS degree program. Manage all aspects of the program's academic administrative matters, such as academic planning, administering program policies/procedures, student recruitment, admissions, registration, and advising; course catalog, department brochures, grades reporting, and revenue analysis. As the primary liaison between students, internal faculty advisors/committees and external Program members, serve as point person and information source for all University and departmental policies and procedures relevant to the Neurobiology and Behavior MS degree program.
Administer all actions relating to Research Foundation, State professional and classified employees from recruitment through termination, including any visa activities. Advise departments on correct procedures, perform technical reviews of requests prior to submission to HR; regularly follow up and issue reminders to ensure timely action.
Maintain a database of all compliance training requirements for faculty, postdoctoral fellows, and graduate and undergraduate students, informing them of when renewals and refresher courses are needed. This database includes, but is not restricted to, bio-safety and CITI training courses, animal, recombinant DNA and radioactive materials approvals, and sexual harassment training courses.
Interface with department and faculty advisor to manage and update website and related content.
Other duties or projects as assigned as appropriate to rank and department mission. Participate, as appropriate, in internal and external professional activities, staying abreast of any changes in regulations or overall funder and/or HR policies and practices.
This is a full time appointment. FLSA Nonexempt position, eligible for the overtime provisions of the FLSA.
