The Manager of Compensatio n is a key member of the HR leadership team providing overall leadership and manages functions including:
Develops classification tools and compensation methodology, compensation-related training and communication, and ensuring effective delivery and compliance with state and federal regulations, collective bargaining agreements, and hospital/university policies and procedures to meet the changing needs of the hospital.
Recommends policies and procedures to ensure that the total compensation of staff is externally competitive and internally equitable so that Stony Brook University Hospital may attract, retain, and motivate top talent on a regular basis.
Oversees and ensure appropriate line classification through New York State Civil Service and SUNY.
Serves as the primary liaison between Stony Brook University Hospital and SUNY system administration for items related to classification compensation.
Manages Extra Service request for hospital employees.
Works collaboratively with other human resource sections and hospital leadership.
Bachelor's degree plus five years of progressively responsible Compensation experience.
Experience and familiarity with HRIS.
Advanced MS Excel skills.
At least two years of experience supervising or leading a team of human resources/compensation professionals.
Experience working with and interpreting collective bargaining agreements and employment policies.
Experience working in higher education or the public sector.
Experience working in hospital environment.
Experience in project management.
CCP, PHR/SPHR or SHRM-CP/SCP certification.
Proven ability to lead a successful team.
Knowledgeable about compensation philosophies, pay systems, and salary ranges.
Ability to provide high-level vision and leadership supported by strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Demonstrated flexibility and adaptability to changing priorities and ability to deliver against tight deadlines.
Effective written and oral communication skills to address various audiences.
Ability to build and maintain effective rapport and relationships with colleagues and customers.
Excellent computer skills; proficiency with spreadsheets/Microsoft Excel for analytics and reporting. Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
