Family Health Centers at NYU Langone, a designated Level 3 Medical Home, is the largest federally qualified health center network in New York State, and the second largest in the nation. Position Summary: We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Medical Director for our Flatbush Family Health Center
In this role, the successful candidate , under the direction of the FHC CMO, the Medical Director plans, organizes, supervises and manages clinical services for the designated FHC site/unit. Provides clinical oversight and leadership for the attending physician and non-physician providers (NPs, PAs), as well as for residents, and health professions students assigned to this site/unit. Assures that quality clinical services are provided efficiently and effectively within available resources and consistent with the policies and priorities of the FHC Network.
Participates in marketing and promoting the practice and mission of FHC as coordinated by FHC leadership.
Participates in network-wide activities as part of the Senior Management Group and Clinical Management Team and assists as appropriate with strategic planning, resource identification and development, grant writing, needs assessment and analysis, and other activities as needed.
Ensures compliance in collaboration with CMP leadership of the site/unit with all applicable requirements and obligations of the Joint Commission , the Section 330 grant, managed care contracts, applicable training grants and any other external funding sources and regulatory agencies, and assures compliance of clinicians with visit/encounter coding according to guidelines for ambulatory and inpatients services, where applicable.
Ensures that new service programs developed at the site are within the overall strategic plan of the LFHC Network.
Ensures that the ambulatory care components of any residency training program which may have residents assigned to this site/unit are appropriately integrated with other components of the training program and with the other educational activities offered by the Network
Encourages clinical and health services research by the clinical staff and by continuity residents assigned to the FHC site/unit as applicable.
Participates with Network leadership in periodic review of overall provider and leadership compensation and incentive programs, including comparability with community, regional and national experience.
Cultivates relationships with our community based partners
Provides weekly direct patient care services at the FHC site/unit as arranged with the Network Medical Director, and provides a appropriate role model for continuous and passionate cares.
Reviews, monitors and ensures the implementation of all applicable components of FHCs Quality Management Program.
Conducts 6 month performance appraisals within required time frames on all attending, nurse practitioners, physicians assistants and other clinical staff assigned to the site/unit. Participates, as appropriate, in the assessment of residents and other health professions students who are assigned to the site/unit.
Ensure, within required time frames, that all licensed clinical providers maintain appropriate credentials and meet such professional standards as are established by the FHC Network and as set forth in the LMC Medical and Dental Staff By-Laws.
Recruits qualified clinical personnel to provide quality services, in consultation with the FHC Network Medical Director and the Chairs of applicable NYU Clinical Department (i.e. Family Practice, Pediatrics, Medicine, OB/GYN, Behavioral Health and Surgery), assures affirmative action in recruiting clinicians from under-representing minority groups, and assists with the development and well-being of incumbent clinicians as part of the LFHC Network retention strategy.
Coordinates closely with other service units within the FHC Network.
Works in close collaboration with nursing and administrative staff at the site/unit and with Network leadership to assure appropriate staffing ratios, office space and equipment and adequate support systems to enhance provider productivity and practice revenue, as well as to develop an environment which helps increase staff morale and promote teamwork through improved efficiencies in patient care and work flow.
Ensures appropriate and timely response to the 24-hour answering service for site/unit patients as applicable.
Ensures adequate assignment, scheduling and coordination, in collaboration with leadership, of all clinicians in order to meet the healthcare needs of regular users registered at the site/unit.
Supervises and directs the delivery of clinical services by all attending physicians, non-physician providers (NPs, PAs), dental providers, specialists, and any post-graduate trainees and health professions students assigned to the site/unit; and assures that all clinical services are provided in accordance with established FHC clinical standard for preventive, diagnostic and treatment services.
Minimum Qualifications: To qualify you must have a Medical Degree Board eligibility or certification in primary care, internal medicine, family medicine, emergency care or occupational health, as well as work experience. Desire to work with marginalized populations NYS license, Board Eligible
