Family Health Centers at NYU Langone, a designated Level 3 Medical Home, is the largest federally qualified health center network in New York State, and the second largest in the nation. Position Summary: We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Manager-School Health Clinical Services.
The Manager-School Health Clinical Services is responsible for planning, implementing and coordinating ambulatory care patient services to attain optimal and effective patient care. Responsible for the management and quality of care as part of the leadership team at the sites/modules. Serves as role model and resource for all staff.
Provides direct patient care as needed including onsite and offsite clinical support/triage/care coordination to meet patient care needs or to model behavior for staff development/training.
Conducts Performance Management monitoring and participates in problem identification and solution to improve key processes/systems/patient care; shares results in staff meetings. Encourages staff participation in performance management activities.
Plans for staffing needs of the site(s)/modules(s) on a long and short-term basis, adjusting based on workload and other staffing variables to maintain safe, efficient care.
Monitors site/module staffing to budget, overtime/agency use and provides justifications as needed.
Provides direct supervision for clinical support staff.
Counsels and coaches staff concerning their work performance and development; holds staff accountable for performance. Works with Director of Operations, Medical Director and Human Resources to take corrective action and/or disciplinary action with staff as indicated.
Develops and coordinates a clinical competency plan for SBHC clinical support staff in conjunction with Medical Director and provides ongoing review of competencies to ensure maintenance.
Provides oversight for the Vaccine for Children (VFC) program in School Health in collaboration with Medical Director.
Implements Quality Improvement Initiatives and Population Health Management strategies in conjunction with Medical Director and Director of Operations. Participates in ongoing evaluation of effectiveness.
Facilitates and ensures orientation of personnel to the site/module. Participates in onboarding of new clinical support staff.
Provides oversight of laboratory operations for onsite lab in conjunction with Medical Director including but not limited to maintenance of CLIA certification, management of Point-of-Care Testing (POCT) quality assurance/control (QA/QC) compliance and training, review of specimen transport/handling/processing procedures to ensure QA/QC and acting as a liaison for external/internal lab related concerns.
Ensures staff compliance with annual and interval updates, i.e. Environments of Care, Infection Control, Emerging Pathogens, Hazard and Safety Surveillance (OSHA).
Encourages and facilitates high levels of collaboration; Identifies and cultivates relationships with key stakeholders; Maintains a formal and informal network of relationships.
Promotes career development of employees; Provides regular timely and specific feedback; Provides challenging assignments and opportunities for growth.
Participates in interviewing potential staff members and recommends the hiring of applicants with appropriate skills and behavior in collaboration with recruitment and School Health Leadership.
Recruits and hires the right people for assignments; Builds a strong work group with complementary strengths; Provides for staff continuity by anticipating staffing needs.
Minimum Qualifications: To qualify you must have a Minimum Education: Master of Science in Nursing; Nurse Practitioner certification required; PNP or FNP required. Minimum Experience/Requirements: Minimum of 3 years of ambulatory care experience required. Previous leadership experience preferred. Willingness to devote the time required completing assigned tasks on schedule. Required License, Registration, Certification: Valid New York State Registered Nurse license; Nurse Practitioner Board Certification required.
Required Licenses: Nurse Practitioner-NYS.
Preferred Qualifications: Preferred Qualifications: Displays effective communication and interpersonal skills with staff and patients. Organizational skills to prioritize and coordinate activities of the module/unit. Accountability and sense of responsibility for module/site/profession. Time management and appropriate follow up. Knowledge of the principles of management and leadership. Utilizes problem-solving approach to difficult/complex patient and staff situations.
