As a leading pediatric research institution, Boston Children's Hospital generates intellectual property in a broad range of areas. The licensing officer will evaluate inventions and assess patentability and potential market for inventions, and work with patent counsel to facilitate patent drafting and prosecution. The licensing officer will also prepare non-confidential marketing materials, identify and contact potential licensees, seek and establish industry collaborations and sponsored research, and negotiate and assist in drafting license and collaboration agreements. A key component of the position is developing productive relationships with scientists within the hospital. We seek an individual with a strong life sciences understanding, knowledge of patenting issues, customer service orientation, and versatility.
This Licensing Officer will be responsible for:
Serving as Hospital representative in marketing, negotiating and securing transfer of Hospital owned technology to for profit corporations for its development and application.
To qualify, you must have:
An advanced degree in the Life Sciences, Engineering or Medicine. Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Marketing or a related field preferred.
2-4 years of directly related experience with associated deal sheet.
The analytical skills to resolve highly complex problems requiring the application of scientific or technical principles, theories and concepts and in‑depth, experienced‑based cross‑functional knowledge.
Work requires communication skills in order persuade and negotiate with others on important matters.
