Required Qualifications(as evidenced by an attached resume): High School Diploma/GED. Technical knowledge as evidenced by coursework in biology, neurobiology, biochemistry or related field. Experience in a biology laboratory environment with laboratory equipment.
Preferred Qualifications: Associates Degree (Foreign Equivalent or higher) in biology, neurobiology, biochemistry or related field. Familiarity with cell culture and molecular biology techniques (RNA amplification, cloning). Experience providing general laboratory support including maintenance of supplies, ordering, and/or stocking equipment. Experience with computers and data management (such as Excel, SPSS). Familiarity with statistical analysis. Familiarity with neurobiology techniques, including electrophysiology, histochemistry. Familiarity with management of mouse colony.
Brief Description of Duties: The Research Laboratory Worker position in the Department of Surgery will learn from and assist the Principal Investigator with research experiments involving cell culture general laboratory maintenance and electrophysiology. Incumbents will need a brief period of orientation or on-the-job training to learn the rudiments of the job.
Provide experimental support for PI, conduct experiments as directed.
Prepare cultures, prepare solutions for experiments.
Provide general laboratory support including ordering supplies and maintaining accurate laboratory records.
Some training of undergraduate and graduate students.
Other duties as assigned.
