The University of Pittsburgh is seeking a qualified candidate to fill the Research Technician position in the Department of Pediatrics. The Research Technician will log biological specimens (blood, CSF) in a dedicated biorepository after performing separation of plasma/serum from cellular fractions using density centrifugation. The incumbent will also perform additional tissue culture assays that may involve culturing fibroblasts and generating EBV-transformed cell lines. The incumbent will also confer with Principal Investigators in determining specific experiments to be included in the research protocol and enter the collected data into a dedicated database. Additional responsibilities include: - preparing and disposing of reagents necessary for research - maintaining lab inventory, including timely ordering of required supplies - assisting in data recording and low complexity processing This position will require flexibility with shift/hours and may be required to work on evenings sometimes. This position is located at Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh of UPMC in Lawrenceville. Associates required. A B.S. or bachelor's degree in biology or related scientific field is preferred. Some experience in a laboratory, specifically with molecular biology is desired. Familiarity with Microsoft office software is desired.
