The Clinical Research Assistant is responsible for providing support to the research studies conducted in the Pediatric Clinical and Translational Research Center (PCTRC). The successful candidate will provide administrative support such as data entry, file maintenance, and assisting with reports. They will be extracting vital data and information from OSIRIS and OSPARS and various databases.
The duties are integral to the administrative operation of the unit. The successful candidate will assist the research nurses, coordinators, and investigators in collecting and processing blood, urine, and other specimens according to the methods defined in multiple research protocols and established standards and practices. He or she is responsible for processing and organizing research samples for storage and shipping; labeling and recording specimens; operating lab equipment, such as a centrifuge; delivering specimens to other departments and other duties directed by the department management.
The ideal candidate must be a team player, organized, and learn new techniques quickly. Bachelor's degree required. Equivalent relevant work experience may be substituted for the degree requirement. At least one year of research experience or exposure to research methodology is preferred. This position is located at UPMC Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh in Lawrenceville.
