This position is in the Department of Neurology. The position is located at the Mid Campus Center. This position is for the Medical School Campus.
Position schedules all new and return patient appointments for Adult & Pediatric Neurology, verifies insurance & demographic information, mails out appropriate paperwork to patients and ensures physician’s schedules are accurate. The position is also responsible for reviewing and distributing a high volume of new patient referrals, as well as answering a high volume of calls on the scheduling phone line.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Schedules all new and return patient appointments for sections of Adult and Pediatric Neurology – as outlined, in each section’s guidelines.� Answer a high volume of incoming calls and serve as liaison between patients, section administrative staff and healthcare professionals.
Verify and update all demographic, insurance, diagnosis, referring physician and meaningful use information. Educate patients on the online patient portal.
Review and update the physician’s schedules. Ensure all available appointment slots are full.
Work the reminder, reschedule, and wait lists.
Mail appropriate paperwork to all patients including health history form, reminder letter and correct clinic map.� Work HandHolder reports and/or returned mailings. Work Relatient, the automated appointment reminder system, to ensure patients are aware of their scheduled appointments.
Miscellaneous duties as assigned.
High School diploma with 2 years of experience in a medical office setting or related customer service/office experience.
Demonstrated interpersonal skills and working knowledge of insurance and financial options.
The hiring range for this position is $15.85 - $19.43 per hour.
